After years spent feeding film crews, popping up at festivals and heritage sites and generally taking our kitchen wherever it's needed, Hot Rocket has put down some roots.
You'll now find our independent Cambridge café in the Lower Yard at Cambridge Museum of Technology, just off the River Cam on Cheddars Lane.
We've transformed the café into a warm, welcoming space inspired by the Museum's industrial heritage, filled with carefully sourced vintage and antique pieces, comfortable indoor seating and plenty of character. Outside, there's riverside seating for those brighter days, too.
We're serving great barista coffee, fresh pastries, homemade cakes, sandwiches and plenty of good things for breakfast and lunch. Whether you're visiting the Museum, meeting friends, walking the dog or looking for somewhere to work over a coffee, everyone's welcome.
No museum ticket required (although we'd definitely recommend a visit if you have time!).

We're officially in!
After a whirlwind few weeks of hard work, our newly refurbished café at Cambridge Museum of Technology is open, and we're rather pleased with how it's turned out.
Andrew, Rachel and our brilliant builder Lee have transformed the space, taking inspiration from the Museum's industrial surroundings and filling it with carefully chosen vintage furniture, antique finds and plenty of character.
It's warm, it's heated, and there's room to sit with a coffee, catch up with friends, enjoy lunch, read a book or get a little work done. And when the weather's on our side, there's still the outdoor seating overlooking the river.
We're open seven days a week, so come and have a look around. We'd love to show you what we've been up to.

WHAT’S COOKING?
Expect proper barista coffee, speciality teas, fresh pastries, homemade cakes, brownies, focaccia sandwiches and a changing selection of good things for breakfast, lunch and everything in between.
We bring the same approach to our café food as we do to everything Hot Rocket does. That means great ingredients, big flavours and food made properly, whether it's something to grab with a coffee or a lunch worth making time for.
Our menu changes with the seasons, what's good and what we fancy cooking, so there's always a reason to come back and see what's new.
LOCAL WHERE IT COUNTS
Hot Rocket might spend a lot of time on the road, but we’re a small independent business with our roots firmly in this part of the world. Andrew lives just down the road in Saffron Walden, and has always believed that good food starts with good ingredients and good people.
We work with fantastic independent producers and suppliers, sourcing locally wherever we can – including Magness Farm just outside Saffron Walden – alongside some of our favourite British producers, including Creedy Carver, Keen’s Cheddar and Montgomery’s Cheese. Now we get to bring those relationships to our permanent home in Cambridge.
We're incredibly proud to be working alongside Cambridge Museum of Technology as its independent café operator.
Housed in Cambridge's historic Victorian pumping station, the Museum is one of those places you can walk past a hundred times without quite realising how much is hiding behind the gates.
Our newly refurbished café takes inspiration from that history, with vintage and antique pieces that feel right at home among the Museum's industrial surroundings.
We want the café to be part of the wider community as much as the Museum itself. Somewhere for local residents, riverside walkers, cyclists, families and visitors to meet, eat, drink and enjoy this rather special corner of Cambridge.
And there's more to come, with plans for events, collaborations and making use of some of the brilliant spaces across the site.
